This is a major update of Fresh, Yep and Leap. Well the new version number (3.7.0 and 2.7.0) is not a big change, but read below. Note that 3.7.0 is only available in these retail builds right now, Apple takes a while to approve new apps, so the App Store versions will not be updated for a week or so.

The biggest changes are under the hood – we updated the apps to modern ARC architecture, and removed and modernized a lot of code to work well on newer systems.

In addition:

Searching is now faster. The wait for initial results in Leap and Yep is now about a 1/4 of what it was in 3.Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 11.41.52 AM6. Also overall search speed is up by 30% or so. Searches that cover files that have already been searched are much faster – about 3x faster.

Searching on Fresh is now much better. It is faster and focus appears in the search field when you bring it forward.

Tag clouds are now accurate when you have more than 100,000 tagged or keyworded files on your system.

Scanning on Yep has had a few bugs fixed.

We have also added optional Bug reporting via bugsnag.com. Thanks for enabling it if you can, but no problem if you don’t!
Biggest change – the retail builds (the ones you download from this site) have the Sparkle update engine back in.

These builds now require OS X 10.9 or later.

What about Deep?

We are looking at Deep. We like the colour searching that it has, but its architecture is not going to work long term, so the current plan is to somehow add Deep features to a future version of Leap. Let me know if you think that would be a good plan going forward.

These updates are all free to anyone with a 3.x licence already. (i.e. anyone who has bought in the last two years).
